Dryer Vent Cleaning: Why It Matters
Longer cycles, a hot laundry room, a musty smell — vent airflow is suspect number one.
A clogged vent makes your dryer run longer, wear out its heating element faster, and in the worst cases becomes a fire risk. If loads take two cycles, start with the vent, not the machine.
Clean the lint trap every load, and have the full vent run checked seasonally — especially in homes where the vent exits through the roof or a long wall run.
If drying is still slow after a vent clean, the thermostat or heating element is next on the list, and that is a straightforward in-home diagnosis.
